Thanks a lot, your help was precious! The problem was that with all repos active, the package updater automatically tries to update the kernel to the latest version, which is 2.6.24.3-12 as you said, so I couldn't run mpls on it. What I did is turning off all repos but mpls ones, in order to get the kernel version supporting mpls, and now it seems all working...
