[mpls-linux-general] installing and configuring MPLS with Ubuntu

Hi everybody,
I'm an absolute newby of Linux and I must use MPLS-Linux for my thesis.
I have Ubuntu 7.10 with a kernel 2.6.20-16
I tried to install it but the first operation suggested in the guide was downgrading the kernel to 2.6.15 and recompiling it.
As you can guess I've had a lot of problems, and I can't boot it.

I've read that it's possible to make a LiveCD to use MPLS Linux.
Do any of you have idea of how I can solve my problem in an easy way (For example by downloading an existing liveCD???).
