You can enable this in File Systems -> Network File Systems -> NFS file system support (must be marked as *, not M). But... are you sure your root filesystem is mounted through NFS? I didn't think this was possible (or at least I never heard of it)... You should check the configuration for your old kernel and activate the same things in the new kernel and then activate the MPLS related options in the new kernel.
