Hi, I am having problems with the newest firefox, newest mplayer, allcodecs and newest mplayer-plugin. I am trying to play the following streaming asf's but they are acting weird. They will play 1 time however, if i play a clip half way though, then hit the back button...the clip will not play again. It plays for a split second then goes to stop. Also they exibit randon crashes sometimes. Here are the clips. They are clips of a fishing show that I watch. http://www.addictivefishing.com/videos/ Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Yes, I built mplayer from source. Those are mms data sources. So you may wa= nt=20 to get a version from CVS.. That is what I am using MPlayer dev-CVS-050312-19:26-3.4.2 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team Kevin On Wednesday 16 March 2005 03:24 pm, nix4me wrote: > Kevin DeKorte wrote: > >What version of mplayerplug-in are you using? > >What OS are you on? > >What version of glibc? > > > >I am on Fedora Core 3 and cannot duplicate the the wierdness. > > > >Kevin > > > >On Tuesday 15 March 2005 07:16 pm, nix4me wrote: > >>Hi, > >> > >>I am having problems with the newest firefox, newest mplayer, allcodecs > >>and newest mplayer-plugin. Mark, Interesting, since those are MMS streams there should be no cache in play..= =2E=20 I'm guessing that you are going back and forth "too fast" and mplayer is no= t=20 shutting down completely. I have seen this with some versions of mplayer=20 when mms streams are used. I've seen it crash the browser. I have tried and tried to get the mplayer and mplayer-plugin w32codecs packages in Fedora Core 3 to work correctly. They are a complete mess. I am apt-getting them so they should work. I can use both firefox and mozilla to watch clips (such as the apple movie trailers) but if i hit back during the playback, half the time the browser completely crashes and and the other half I cant replay the clip. Sometimes the browser crashes when the clip finishes and sometimes when a clip starts. Multimedia support in linux is a complete dissapointment. I have tried many distibutions of linux over the past 3 years and they all do the same thing. Firefox and Mozilla always crash with mplayer. Why is it that it has so many bugs/problems? Mplayer is the only way to watch clips that I know of so thats why I am so dissapointed. Mark Ryan |

Mark, Can you run firefox in a debugger (firefox -g) and when it crashes can you= =20 send the output of the 'bt' command from the debugger? Install ddd firefox -g type 'run' at the debugger prompt use firefox and duplicate the crash. then type 'bt' at the debugger prompt and email me that output. This is how= I=20 can figure out where things are going wrong. Some other thoughts, have you tried setting mplayer to use a vo of 'x11'. S= ee=20 the mplayerplug-in configuration page on how to do that.=20 Kevin On Thursday 17 March 2005 08:28 pm, nix4me wrote: > I have tried and tried to get the mplayer and mplayer-plugin w32codecs > packages in Fedora Core 3 to work correctly.
