I have a problem on one particular machine in that when using the plugin -vo xv doesn't work. I've tried to duplicate the error but it only happens when mplayer is invoked via the plugin. MPlayer complains about 'resource unavailable' and then quits. I've tried to duplicate the error but it only happens with the plugin. I can run mplayer fine with -vo x11. Any ideas on how to get some better info for you so you can advise? What would help? I've looked at all sorts of logs from messages to Xorg.x.log, but there are no errors that jump out at me. I am running MPlayer dev-CVS-041203-21:00, galeon, and plugin 2.70. The system is a fairly plain FC 2, with a stock 2.6.9 kernel. It has the i815 chipset. I have another system, pretty much identical, except that it uses a Matrox G400, and it runs fine with -vo xmga but also fails with -vo xv. --Yan -- o__ ,>/'_ o__ (_)\(_) ,>/'_ o__ Yan Seiner (_)\(_) ,>/'_ o__ o__ Certified Personal Trainer (_)\(_) ,>/'_ ,>/'_ Licensed Professional Engineer (_)\(_) (_)\(_) Who says engineers have to be pencil necked geeks? spam killer code kpwq1jkcsEzdx39gnkVvgycd15ayqq |

Yan, I just tested this on my development machine and I am unable to duplicate t= his=20 condition. Here are some possible reasons why this may do this mozilla/firefox uses a lot of back buffer in the video card and it is possi= ble=20 that there is not enough video ram to do xv with mozilla running. I'm using an ATI video card with 16MB on one machine and 128MB on another=20 machine and neither machine exhibits this issue. Perhaps it is the video=20 driver you are using? Personally, I run with the x11 driver since it seems = to=20 work better when I plug in an external monitor to my laptop (primary=20 development machine) and it does not seem to make that much a difference=20 performance wise. In fact I have speed step running on machine and only whe= n=20 I zoom the video does the cpu speed jump up to a higher level. The problem is apparently confined to a bug in the xorg X server shipped with Fedora Core 2. The workaround is to add the following option to the Device section describing the video card. Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps" "on" Apparently, mozilla, nautilus, etc. fill up video memory with pixmaps, and the FC2 xorg server is not properly freeing that memory.... Something along those lines. Minor threshholds may trigger this bug; I guess that on my system running the plugin consumed just that much more video memory to trigger the bug.... It has nothing to do with the hardware, drivers, or amount of video memory. Since both my systems use FC2, both had the bug. And the good news is that now I have brightness and contrast controls....
