All, I just commited a fix to CVS that seems to fix some GTK1 issues. Primarily it seems to fix the Gdk-WARNING **: GdkWindow 0x800311 unexpectedly destroyed errors. They are now gone. Please test and see if it works better.. Should be available by 6pm MST. Kevin |

BTW, this fix breaks fullscreen mode. I am working on a fix, but have not found a solution yet. Ok, I think I finally got GTK1 mode to work really well... or at least much better then it was. I have just committed the last fixes to CVS and hopefully they should fix all the crashing issues and the fullscreen issues (much harder than I thought to fix). So test it and let me know where it breaks. Kevin On Sunday 19 September 2004 07:23 pm, Kevin DeKorte wrote: > BTW, this fix breaks fullscreen mode. Kevin, I am sorry to report that I still get exactly the same behavior with all clip types (the only type that does not disappear Mozilla is RM, and that because it opens in its own mplayer window as Mozilla "helper applicaton" even though mplayerplug-in.conf has "enable-real=1" entered). This with the same error messages at crash. I forgot to add prevously that during "make" I get this one "warning" message: Source/plugin-threads.cpp: In function `int playNode(ThreadData *, Node *, char *, int, int *, int *)': Source/plugin-threads.cpp:586: warning: `char * eos' might be used uninitialized in this function |

I am just now seeing your current message about more CVS updates (which I have tried), but this CVS (for this message 09/20/04) was unsuccessful. So I will try again now with the new. This did not help with my error / crashes. I get exactly the same as before: play, then takes out Mozilla completely with each different type of clip. Interesting, I don't get that warning. What version of gcc are you using? Also, can you paste lines 681 to 699 of plugin-threads.cpp in this response? Let me recheck your problem. When every you play any kind of media mplayerplug-in will crash. You are running mozilla on your local machine. You have current versions of everything. Have you tried with the config option "noembed=1" What vo and ao options are you using? Can you paste or attach your mplayerplug-in.conf file here. What happens if you run without the conf file. Run mozilla from the command line and open a media file and paste the terminal output of mozilla here. Maybe I will see something. Re: [I assume] this "make" warning I get thus: Source/plugin-threads.cpp:586: warning: `char * eos' might be used uninitialized in this function Kevin DeKorte wrote: > Interesting, I don't get that warning. What version of gcc are > you using? I am using gcc 2.95.3 still. (I have not satisfactorily completed my upgrade to slackware-10.0, etc. yet.) I have considered this may be a problem, though from earlier reading at Mozilla, I had concluded that it was alright for me to run a gcc3+ build of Mozilla on my system, and that if I use the Java plug-in, I need the gcc3 build as opposed to the gcc2 build of the plugin. So I have been thinking that might be at issue with me building the mplayerplug-in with gcc2.95.3, then using it with a gcc3+ build of Mozilla.... I am considering downloading and installing that egcs mozilla build (it is only mozilla-1.4 though) and/or building mplayerplug-in with my not-ready for primetime Slackware-10.0 gcc3+ and then installing it "here" on my old system. Compiling a plugin with a different C compiler and especially a different C++ compiler is asking for trouble... Make sure you use the same major version of the C compiler as mozilla. The warning is not a problem. The compiler is being a little strict. [Later] OK, I tried all types and the result are the same. (It is still true that RM clip does NOT crash, as it needs to be defined as a Mozilla helper application even with "enable-real=1" in my $HOME/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf file in order to work locally. As I recall, playback from Web sites with or without being defined as helper will still crash, but I am not positive now. It sometimes results in the "double" simultaneous play phenomena. It has been awhile so I am unclear about RM from Web streams today. Sorry.) > What vo and ao options are you using? In my $HOME/.mplayer/config I have: ao=oss, alsa, esd, vo=x11,xv,gl2,svga, I have used these in $HOME/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf as well or with only the first options defined without any behavior difference. > Can you paste or attach your mplayerplug-in.conf file here. ##### # mplayerplug-in CVS 09/16/04 ##### debug=1 logfile=$HOME/mpp.log #vo=xv,x11 #ao=oss #download=1 #dload-dir=$HOME/tmp #keep-download=0 #noembed=0 #cachesize=256 #cache-percent=25 #use-mimetypes=0 enable-real=1 #enable-wm=1 #enable-mpeg=1 #enable-ogg=1 #enable-qt=1 qt-speed=high #rtsp-use-tcp=0 #nomediacache=0 > What happens if you run without the conf file. > The result is the same, assuming you mean the "mplayerplug-in.conf" file. These errors all seem to occur when the player thread is shutting down. So it seems to be thread related. Lets try upgrading your gcc and (g)libc to a gcc 3.2 version and recompiling the plugin and seeing if that helps. Either that or use a mozilla that uses a gcc 2.9ish runtime like you said.
