I just installed mplayerplug-in 2.60, with Firefox 0.8. It works great.
However, I've found that whenever I watch to the end of a movie, firefox
closes! It seems that mplayer quitting quits the whole browser as well.
I've been able to repeat this every time watching the trailers available
I compiled mplayerplug-in with the gecko-sdk 1.6.
Are any fixes/causes known?

I have seen firefox crash occasionally at the end of media, but never 100% of
the time. Perhaps you could run firefox in debug mode and see if it happens
This will start a debugger, gdb or ddd are needed to be installed.
Then type run, watch the video and then see if it crashes. If it does crash
can you send me the back trace? Back trace can be view by typing 'bt' at the
debugger prompt after the crash.
I have seen this crash and tried to debug and even valgrind it, but I can
never duplicate it in the debugger.
Also, what kernel version and glibc version do you use? Or what distribution?
I build on Fedora Core 1 and use firefox as my main browser.
