You might try a newer version of gecko-mediaplayer/gnome-mplayer 0.9.9.2
is over 18 months old at this point and several improvements have been made.

I actually tried your site here on my machine and the video quality
seems good to me. I have attached a screen shot to show you. I'm
currently using the version from SVN (almost 1.0.5).
