Is there a way to use mplayerplug-in ONLY for embedded objects? For example, I don't want to use the plugin for those files types where firefox would normally prompt me to open or save, such as PLS files.

Sorry, but no the mozilla toolkit does not appear to have a setting for that. But you can always right click on an options and select "Save As" or you can select "Save" off the right click menu with mplayerplug-in

So there is no way to distinguish between the two? For example, if I look on SciFi's Downloads page, I see HTML like:

          <embed src="/downloads/movies_lo/humansuit.mov" ...></embed>

Does the toolkit make no distinction between this and simply clicking on a "Tune In" link at www.shoutcast.com? The former is clearly meant to be embedded in the page and seen as part of the page, and the latter is meant to be played by an external player like amarok or xmms.
