It would be nice if in the binary updates (mencoder/mplayer) that PNG output on mplayer were restored. I have made use of that feature to do transcoding via Quicktime Player Pro (it allows for perfect splicing of video, since the video gets decompressed into discrete pictures).
This was a good thing to have, and really could have been kept in.
