Using 64 bit mplayer/mencoder in linux to encode anything is generally fast because of the extra registers. I compared it when encoding an mpeg2 video into h264 using a custom built mplayer. The differences are substational. It would be great if you could bring it over to Windows x64.

    not really for now, mingw64 is not yet mature

    The aforementioned mingw-w64 project appears to be undergoing constant development, and the home page states it is stable. Could you be persuaded to consider doing a test-compile?

    you might be able to build your own using cross compiling with mingw64 like this fella does (see "blog") for ffmpeg http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/
