#15 SVN-r27323 crach at start

MPlayer (86)

Using SVN-r27323, when playing a file, the video and audio starts looping at the beggining until no end.

The issue happens with my T2330 1,6 Ghz with Vista x86, and have not been able to try on other enviroments.

Everithing worked fine on SVN-r27081 and previous.

I have the same problem,Mplayer crashes when trying to start avi files!!Or takes over 30 seconds to start!

it's still a mystery playing with directx overlay on vista, I've tried with a vista and an intel video
and it works, since I don't have vista right now I need to find one to reproduce it,
vo=directx:noaccel should work but you'll get no video accelerations, that perhaps if the video is not h264 it's acceptable since mplayer it's enough to display fluid video even without video accell

hi !!I tired the latest build r27743 and the problem still exists!!!

  • Nobody/Anonymous

I can duplicate this, it also happens with MuldeR's compile. I tested on two computers:
    1. Vista Ultimate 64bit, Core2Quad, nVidia
    2. Vista Ultimate 32bit, AtomN270, Intel945

Both exhibit the same behaviour (which doesn't happen with the stock mplayer from mplayerhq.hu).

In my case a workaround was to comment out the "fontconfig" lines from the configuration file. Maybe it helps others too...

I have tried the latest build (r28311), and it still isn't working.
I couldn't get it to work with -vo directx:noaccel, but it works great when I commented out the fontconfig lines as suggested by a comment below.
It would be awesome if you manage to fix this.

I've noticed that enabling fontconfig in this build hangs, I don't known if it's related the the cache, need to investigate, could you please check if disabling fontconfig solves the problem?

Before I just commented out the fontconfig lines, but now I have "fontconfig=no" in the config and it works just as well.

fontconfig is working fine, I've installed adobe master suite cs4 and it added a lot of fonts, just let mplayer create the fontcache the first time, it will take a while, but then it will not take time until your font dir is unchanged

  • Nobody/Anonymous

Yes, you are correct. I tried with fontconfig enabled, and it looked a lot like it had crashed, sound looping etc., but after a while it started, and after that it no longer takes that time.
It's pretty confusing since it really looks like it crashes and if it would say something like "Building fontcache...", and not loop sound, then it wouldn't be confusing and people would wait instead thinking it crashed.
