I tried mpg321 http://localhost:8000 but i get

same here, streams that play fine with xmms (e.g.) won't play with mpg321 ... error message is always
http://<ip> doesn't exist
even though the url given was of the form
quoting or escaping the ":" doesn't help, as it seems. So maybe the commandline parser just doesn't know how to handle the colon?
