Well ... nobody interested in sharing some results? I have to assume
everything's fine then, mpg123 works just as great as expected, no
surprises? Sadly, I'm quite busy in these days, so luckily for you,
folks, there is time to test and report before I try to rush out mpg123
1.16.0 . Facts indicate that there will be a final 1.15.x release with
some fixes anyway before that.

But in any case, I humbly ask anyone, especially on funny platforms
(meaning: not x86-64/GNU/Linux;-), to give current trunk (snapshot) and
the branch a try and compare decoding performance to earlier builds and
other decoders (ffmpeg and friends), if possible. Reporting if it works
at all is also helpful.
