I use Xmms 2.08 and musepack 1.00 on suse 9.1 and when
I put some mpc to read XMMS wrote me :
"Superframe-size!=1: not suported anymore. Please
decode with comand line tool".With musepack 0.98 it
crash XMMS instead but the files can be readed under
windows XP and Winamp.

Your problem comes from id3v2 tags.
Just delete them and it will work

id3v2 -1 song.mpc to change the id3v2 tag with id3v1
id3v2 -d song.mpc to destroy the id3v2 tag
