Vista limits input to line-in or microphone - there is no ability to record what is coming through speakers and no methood to adjust level.

This behavior is common to most sound cards - recording is done from one of the inputs which can be either line-in or microphone.

I do not believe Vista sets any limits here. In this particular case, Vista is nothing more than a new look-n-feel for XP.
