Hello. I've tried to set up project to permform test with spring beans(facades, services, dao), but unfortunately I am stuck. My steps: I've created basic testing class net.sourceforge.mpango.BasicSpringTest: @TransactionConfiguration @Transactional @ContextConfiguration("classpath*:spring-core-test-beans.xml") @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) public class BaseSpringTest extends AbstractTransactionalJUnit4SpringContextTests { @Test public void testSpring() { } } Next, I've created spring configuration file(spring-core-test-beans.xml), by altering spring-beans.xml from main resources, and put it in src/test/resources Content: <bean id="datasource" class="org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.DriverManagerDataSource"> <property name="driverClassName"> <value>org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver</value> </property> <property name="url"> <value>jdbc:hsqldb:mem:sample</value> </property> <property name="username"> <value>sa</value> </property> <property name="password"> <value></value> </property> </bean> <bean id="sessionFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.LocalSessionFactoryBean"> <property name="dataSource" ref="datasource" /> <property name="configLocation" value="classpath:hibernate.cfg.xml" /> <property name="configurationClass" value="org.hibernate.cfg.AnnotationConfiguration" /> <property name="hibernateProperties"> <props> <prop key="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.HSQLDialect</prop> <prop key="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">create-drop</prop> </props> </property> </bean> <bean name="userDAO" class="net.sourceforge.mpango.directory.UserDAOHibernate"> <property name="sessionFactory" ref="sessionFactory" /> </bean> <bean name="authService" class="net.sourceforge.mpango.service.AuthenticationService"> <property name="userDAO" ref="userDAO" /> </bean> <bean name="authFacade" class="net.sourceforge.mpango.facade.AuthenticationFacade"> <property name="authService" ref="authService" /> </bean> The hibernate configuration file i copied unchanged. During performing the test from junit plugin, or from maven I get ClassNotFoundException: Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.sourceforge.mpango.directory.UserDAOHibernate at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:252) at org.springframework.util.ClassUtils.forName(ClassUtils.java:257) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanDefinition.resolveBeanClass(AbstractBeanDefinition.java:408) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanFactory.doResolveBeanClass(AbstractBeanFactory.java:1256) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanFactory.resolveBeanClass(AbstractBeanFactory.java:1227) ... 34 more Any ideas what I did wrong? Attendees: edevera, devlee, mbadiac, prbarcelon, tufan, wellings. First status meeting in the project! Nice to have you on board. During the meeting it was agreed to use Google Chat instead of IRC as people seem to be more comfortable with it. So next week's meeting will be held over Google Chat. We need some explanation in order to proceed, has anyone used Google Chat in group chats? Help is welcome! We need to find out why all the people invited did not attend the meeting so that we can try addressing the possible problems in order to have them participating. What were the reasons not to attend the meeting? The timing? The technology? I have proceed grating more privileges to the team members that are more committed to the project in order to allow them to work more effectively. In particular now devdlee, jaywellings, mbadiac and myself have admin rights for the tracker so that they can assign themselves and others more easily work. We have agreed on the following work for the team members: devdlee: We have to meet online in order to talk about the settlement of units as cities and if cities should be considered constructions. prbarcelon, mbadiac: Learning JUnit testing and Easymock. Resources to read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JUnit http://www.vogella.de/articles/JUnit/article.html http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=eclipse+junit&aq=f Creating some unit tests for the existing classes that don't have any of them. If you want to see what classes are not tested or need more tests, I have added Cobertura plugin to Maven. This plugin produces reports on unit testing that will help you identify what classes are not being tested. In order to run cobertura plugin, just type mvn cobertura:cobertura. You can find the reports after running the plugin in the target/cobertura folder (they are HTML documents). turfan: Will write some unit tests for the existing classes. If you want to see what classes are not tested or need more tests, I have added Cobertura plugin to Maven. This plugin produces reports on unit testing that will help you identify what classes are not being tested. In order to run cobertura plugin, just type mvn cobertura:cobertura. You can find the reports after running the plugin in the target/cobertura folder (they are HTML documents). wellings: Propose a high level User Interface. This document should contain a schema for the main game play mode with the different areas of the presentation to the user (header, menu, body, footer) as well as for the login screen and the registration screen. edvera: Deliver a structure for the web module for wellings. Investigate http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/ for future meetings among the team members. Continue working on the game script document. Add information related to cities. The turn engine in order to base it on units instead of having a universal turn engine for all players. Turns should be as short as possible so that the players can interact faster with the game. Queues are proposed in order to store a list of things the unit needs to perform. This document is found in a dropbox folder that has been shared with wellings, prbarcelon, mbadiac and devdlee. Give tracker rights to all committed members. If you feel something that was talked about during the meeting has been left out of this email or please reply adding it. |

I've been struggling to find time to devote to this project - I've not put in what I intended to, and I'm sorry. It's not going to get better any time soon - I've a job (PHP) starting Tuesday, so learning and practising Java is going to have to go on the back burner. Rather than continue not delivering, I think I should retire from the team at this point, and leave the board to whoever wants to pick it up. I'll continue to lurk on the list for now, if that's ok. Good luck and have fun. Cheers Chris |

The only point I would raise here is that any design pattern / technology / framework we implement should be done on the merits that it solves a problem that we feel we will face during the project. Time and time again I have seen projects that have been over engineered to the Nth degree, adding layers of abstraction & complicity, increasing the barrier of entry all without providing any real world benefit / value to the application. Structure and convention are essential elements for a successful team project, but we need to ensure we are using the correct ones for this project. This being said I would be interested in seeing Andy's suggested implementation. I have reviewed mpango code, and I have some remarks: 1) Entities, events, listeners, exceptions, beans should be placed in own packages, and if necessary create subpackages. Now it is a little mixed. 2) Web layer should be separated from back-end. The flow of the application could be like this: user-action -> spring bean -> facade bean -> service bean -> dao bean 3) Next step of separating should be creating of DTOs which will be used in web layer. Each entity should have corresponding DTO class. translation between entities and DTOs will be perform by builders(entity->dto) and factories(dto->entity). All actions which will require translations, should be placed in facades, facade beans will be used as thin border between core system and user interface. Service beans will be used to perform calculations. As far as mpango grows maybe we should consider creating 2 projects instead of one, for example mpango-core, and mpango-web. If Eduardo will give me permission I could rearrange code a little in this style. What do you think about it? Any suggestions are welcome. Andrzej |

Hi everybody, I would like to propose the idea of having a weekly status meeting in order to be able to sync with the rest of the team and have a fast way to point the status of what we are actually doing and what is impeding us to make progress. I would like to ask you all to answer to this email saying if you would like to attend the meeting and if so which availability you have (please consider that since the team is spread all over the world, time should be mentioned in a relative way, i.e. 10PM GMT+1). My availability is the following (GMT+1): Monday - Thursday from 21h - 23h Saturday (12h - 16h) Sunday (18h - 22h) At the moment and unless someone proposes a better alternative, meetings would take place over the IRC. Please reply to this email (even if it is to say that you won't attend). Regards, Eduardo de Vera |

Hi team, I have added new resources to the project web page. You can find them here http://mpango.sourceforge.net . As I am aware that some of the team members are not used to working on teams, I believe http://mpango.sourceforge.net/developer/workit.html in which I explain basics about team work that will ease up everybody's time when working on the project. Hi again, Issues fixed! Migration to new JSF 2.0 version was not done completely. Important to note: we stop having Trinidad available at the moment (as far as I know we were not using it). Hi Jay, I have run the application on my machine and after not getting any error while starting the server, I do get several errors (copied and pasted at the bottom) when trying to access it. After having reviewed the information at the facelets web page, I see that there is no mention to JSF 2.0 but it clearly states that the versions supported for this technology are 1.1 and 1.2. I have created a bug report and have assigned it to you so that you can pick up from here. I leave it up to you either to fix the existing problems so that we remove all errors and warnings and stick to the new version of libraries or revert the last changes so that we go back to a version that is stable. On the other side of things, from now on I believe it would be positive that whenever we want to include a new library or change a library version we include the reasons behind those decisions so that we can all agree on those changes. Hi Jay, The only warning I see when running the application is the following: WARNING: AnnotationConfigurator does not found classes for annotations in /WEB-INF/classes/ . This could happen because maven jetty plugin is used (goal jetty:run). Try configure org.apache.myfaces.annotation.SCAN_PACKAGES init parameter or use jetty:run-exploded instead. Which makes perfect sense as we haven't got any annotated class in terms of JEE web application. What errors do you get? Please keep the core mailing list address on you answer so that the team is informed and can participate in these kind of issues. Hi team, I havent had much time this past week to dedicate to the project. I am sorry about it and I hope I find more time as I understand there is a lot of work that needs to be done. I am currently working on the documentation for the game, in a document called game script which should contain most of the information needed to describe the functionality of the game (not so technical). Since the document is alive I believe it doesn't make sense to upload it to Source Forge at the moment. Nevertheless I would like to know if any of you has interest in reviewing it and commenting it. I will continue creating tasks for the team so that some more work gets done. Thanks to all of you who have already completed their tasks. I must apologize to those that are still pending to get answers from me as well as those who haven't been assigned to a particular task. By the way, if you see a task unassigned, feel free to assign it to yourself if you feel confident to take over ownership (you can always unassign it in case you see you can't complete it). Let's keep in touch, Eduardo de Vera |

I'm Using eclipse, and I see the Jar file including the required XSDs within the Maven dependencies folder. But when I run as mvn jetty:run I get the error: nested exception is org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.2.4.c: The matching wildcard is strict, but no declaration can be found for element 'amq:connectionFactory' Jay On 17 May 2011 09:42, Marc Badia Cendros <mar...@gm...> wrote: > Hi! > Not sure about the issue you are talking about, but if you are using an IDE > and you have the sources (.jar) in the buildpath correctly, they have the > xsd/dtd inside. > So, if you have spring.jar it should work. > > Marc > > > On Tue, May 17, 2011 at 9:20 AM, Jay Wellings <jay...@gm...> wrote: >> >> Hi Guys >> >> I have been banging my head against this issue and have been unable to >> resolve it. >> >> When I have no internet connection, i get the issue described here. >> http://samroyale.blogspot.com/2010/07/spring-schemas.html >> >> However when I try including the spring.schemas to the META-INF it >> appears to make no difference. >> >> Anyone now how to make sure the the XSD are read from local? >> >> Thanks >> >> >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ >> Achieve unprecedented app performance and reliability >> What every C/C++ and Fortran developer should know. >> Learn how Intel has extended the reach of its next-generation tools >> to help boost performance applications - inlcuding clusters. >> http://p.sf.net/sfu/intel-dev2devmay >> _______________________________________________ >> Mpango-core mailing list >> Mpa...@li... >> https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mpango-core > > |

Hi! Not sure about the issue you are talking about, but if you are using an IDE and you have the sources (.jar) in the buildpath correctly, they have the xsd/dtd inside. So, if you have spring.jar it should work. Hi Guys I have been banging my head against this issue and have been unable to resolve it. When I have no internet connection, i get the issue described here. http://samroyale.blogspot.com/2010/07/spring-schemas.html However when I try including the spring.schemas to the META-INF it appears to make no difference. Anyone now how to make sure the the XSD are read from local? Thanks |

Hi Jay, Thanks a lot for the explanation of the things you have done in order to complete the human verification task. I've taken the freedom to modify a bit your code as I understood from reading the reCaptcha documentation that one needs to register in their system to be able to use their software. It was one of my concerns regarding the use of this specific component. I have replaced the public and private key from the web.xml and the helloWorld.xhtml files and I have put those values in a properties file that will be used during the filtering done by Maven upon the build of the project. This has two consequences, one good one and one not so good one: The not so good one is that we are not able to run mvn jetty:run anymore if we want to use reCaptcha's functionality. In order to see reCaptcha's functionality in place, we need to run mvn jetty:run-exploded which instead of using the src/main/webapp folder as the Web Application resources files, it uses the target/mpango-<version> folder that contains the already filtered files. The good one is that the project is ready for an easy substitution of values (just by either replacing them in the web.properties file found in src/main/filters) or by an even better file-per-environment solution using Maven Profiles (I could easily take care of this). I do think that it is still early to think about how we are going to run the application on a real environment as there isn't any environment ready (besides our own computers). I believe we should have more functionality in place as well as a presentable application (right now the only things we have that users can interact with is the registration form and a user list page) before thinking on having the application available for end users. I am aware of the lack of documentation on almost every aspect of the project. I am very open to discuss how we should create them and who can do so. I have opened a couple of task in the Feature Tracker for people to kick in and start writing and thinking about functionality (I assigned them to those that have openly expressed their gamers side!). Nevertheless, there is not only lack of functional documents, we also need documents for non functional stuff (such as architectural documents, operational documents, etc.). I hope that during the course of the activities each individual will be able to deliver documentation in some way or another so that all the project is documented at least to a bare minimum. Regarding your last set of questions, I do believe until now you have proven yourself in the work you have delivered. Your changes satisfy the requirement description and work in the Jetty server that we are currently using! So great job once again! I don't completely understand what you mean by building the project (mvn package should be the preferred way to get a bundle that can be deployed on a Jetty server). I do believe that we should support more application servers besides Jetty, I like Tomcat as well as it is one of the most used web application servers out there). I don't know anything about Jun, so I am open to hear from it if you consider it a good candidate. I will start working on architectural documents/requirements this week, as this is a growing project and certain functionalities are still to be discussed, we won't have any final versions until we reach a milestone. Talking of which, we also need the definition of milestones so that we can organize the work around them. As you can see, there is plenty of things to be done. However, there are trivial things (such as the user module) that require few documentation or planning (as we all kind of know what to expect from such a module: registration, forgot password, change details, invite other users...) and that I believe is the best way to engage new comers so that they can start working from day one. Happy development! Edu On May 14, 2011, at 3:03 PM, Jay Wellings wrote: > 1) added the primefaces settings to the POM.xml.
