The only point I would raise here is that any design pattern / technology / framework we implement should be done on the merits that it solves a problem that we feel we will face during the project. Time and time again I have seen projects that have been over engineered to the Nth degree, adding layers of abstraction & complicity, increasing the barrier of entry all without providing any real world benefit / value to the application. Structure and convention are essential elements for a successful team project, but we need to ensure we are using the correct ones for this project. This being said I would be interested in seeing Andy's suggested implementation.
