I have been using MP3Gain for several years. And I love it. I wanted to download it to a new computer and SiteAdvisor says that the transfer has viruses! What's happening?
I typed" MP3 Gain" into Google. I went to the site and it didn't give me any warning. Cick on the first box.
If you get the download from SourceForge, then you can see that the Windows MP3Gain downloads haven't changed for 5 and a half years (wow, has it been that long?). So no, no new viruses have been added to MP3Gain.
If someone downloads MP3Gain from another location, then I can make no such guarantee.
Sorry but I insist. I use Firefox and I download from SourceForge: https://sourceforge.net/ in other words https://sourceforge.net/projects/mp3gain/files/MP3Gain-Windows%20%28Stable%29/1.2.5/mp3gain-win-1_2_5.exe/download.
After download and run the antivirus, McAfee SiteAdvisor blocks the transfer and indicates to me that: Detected potentially dangerous transference. In our tests this transference contained programs that some people classify with Spyware or adware
The problem appears in this site that you are connected : http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/
And about this last one, SiteAdvisor's report indicates that : When testing this site we found links to prdownloads.sourceforge.net, we noted that being a distributor of downloads some people classify it as adware, spyware or other unwanted programs
So I think that the problem is due to the fact that they are connected to the site : prdownloads.sourceforge.net through the site : http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/
SourceForge should contact McAfee to inquire why this classification and to correct this problem urgently to rest its fans. Sorry for the English.
I went to the site you gave and Downloaded it. I have "Norton AntiVirus". Everytime I download a Site or Program, it tells me if it is "SAFE" or "NOT "SAFE" with a "Box" that comes up in the right hand corner of my computer screen. The problem is on your end. This is a very popular download. CNET has it for download and they give it a very good review. Last week it was downloaded 1,221 times.
the problem is not with antivirus. The problem is with McAfee Site Advisor.
Turn off your Anti-Virus, download MP3 Gain. Then turn your Anti-Virus back on.
I doubt very much Sourceforge is going to fix or contact McAfee.
