Hello !

I'm unable to make Mp3ext working on Windows 8.
I've tested with adminstrator right and compatibiliy, but I can't see the tab in property and the icons on mp3.

I've tested to register manually the ddl located in system32 and syswow64, but same result.

Help !

The problem

Hello, as you can read in the tickets (http://sourceforge.net/p/mp3ext/tickets/8/) there seemed to be an issue with Windows 8 64 bit as the MP3-Info tab did not appear under properties.

Possible solution

I found out that the solution is equal to the one that has been reported for problems with certain players.

It looks like you just need to register the mp3ext.dll file manually as the registration does not work like it should when running MP3ext_3.4.25.exe

Here are the steps to register the dll file:

1. Search for cmd.exe via the Windows 8 Search
2. Right click on cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"
3. Copy: regsvr32 mp3ext.dll
4. Paste into the cmd shell window
5. Press return and you get a meesage that the "dll got registered successfully"

Option 2 for step 1.
Instead of searching for cmd.exe via Windows 8 Search you may open an Explorer window, navigate to c:\Windows\System32\ and look for the file there.

If somebody could recompile the installer so it shows up with the administrator icon under Windows 8 and the mp3ext.dll gets registered again by the installer, then this problem should be finally solved for every future Windows 8 64 bit user.
