Hi Baranaby, This is a known issue. I have fixed it in the latest version. I need to get a new package up. The quick fix is to edit your .cfg file and make sure that the MAC address for the <MP3elf> section matches your elfServer - in your case 00.60.35.00.66.22 should be in the ID attribute of the <MP3elf> element. The problem is actually related to this: FATAL mp3elf.elfServer.elfTINI - Unable to locate a default playlist If you set up your MAC address and ensure that the m3u file referenced in the <playlist.filename> element exists you should be in business. Well, The flashing went fine and I've now got all the necessary packages installed to run the Server. I've hacked the example .cfg file and I now get the output below. Chris,
the flashing stage appears to have worked just fine, or at least no
visible error messages ;-)
I'm now getting the ElfServer setup......

Subject: Correction to PIC flashing instructions
Step 5 in the instructions below had a question mark instead of a
hyphen. Apologies.
3.1 Flashing the PIC Micro-Controller
In order for the push buttons, IR and LCD contrast to function
correctly; the PIC micro-controller on the MP3elf needs to be programmed
with the appropriate firmware. To perform this task:
1. Load the TINI1.02d JVM onto the TINI in the MP3elf using JavaKit
2. Load Slush 1.02d onto the TINI in the MP3elf using JavaKit
3. Give the device an IP address using the serial console
4. FTP the following files to the device:
- mp3v2.tini
- MP3ELF.HEX
5. Telnet into the device and execute: java mp3v2.tini -p MP3ELF.HEX &
6. Once programming of the PIC is complete, the TINI firmware can be
configured as described in the README of the download package
Chris.

Hi Barny, The answers to your questions are: 1) PIC programming will work at 5v. We are using the in system programming feature of the PIC which will work at 5V for the 16F628 2) In the installation instructions on the web, look at the picture in Step 11. The IR module magically appears. That will show you visually where it goes. Basically it goes in the 3 holes closest to the push buttons with the IR part facing outwards. Whilst the hardware is in place for the IR, the software is still coming along. Stay tuned for an update which will let you use your remotes with the MP3elf. Chris. To use a 5V regulated DC supply with the MP3elf v2, perform the following modifications: 1) Remove the wire links from R7 and R8 2) Fit wire links to R22 and R23 WARNING ------------- - Ensure that the supply is REGULATED 5V DC. If not there is every chance that you will fry the chips. - Ensure that the power supply is centre tip positive. If not there is every chance that you will fry the chips. Hi Barny,
Chris (the hardware designer) will get back to you shortly with the
information on this.
He will also give you instructions on how to flash the PIC chip that is
on the board.

settings have to be enabled in order to enable the 5Vdc input? JP1 looks

Other than that it\'s all gone together rather well. Thanks.

It certainly is there. The current firmware builds for both version 1 and version 2 hardware. The makefile simply has two targets. The only thing that is not in CVS is the PIC code. I can currently provide the HEX file if you contact me directly - it is a long story but I will resolve it soon. Chris. Hello, I am interested in working with the MP3elf for my senior project. Is the source in CVS for version 2? I noticed that there is Atmel code in there. Hi Everyone, It has been a while between updates, so we wanted to let you know the latest happenings with the MP3elf. The big news is that we have version 2 hardware available. We have pictures, schematics and construction guides up on the website at http://mp3elf.net A brief summary of the new features: * Almost 50% smaller * Pushbuttons mounted on the PCB * Mounting for LCD on the PCB * Reduced part count * IR remote control support The hardware is fully tested and operational We have also added new features to the software * JReceiver support (http://jreceiver.sourceforge.net) * Web based playlist management * Internet streaming support (shoutcast etc) * Ogg Vorbis Transcoding * Menu support The software is reasonably stable but is still "alpha". We expect to have "beta" software out in the next couple of weeks. The hardware is available now in both kit and assembled form - all you will need is a TINI and optionally an LCD. To purchase the MP3elf follow the "purchase" link on http://mp3elf.net The purchase form is only for complete kits and assembled MP3elfs. If you have previously contacted us about purchasing individual components, please drop a line to wi...@us... and we will be in touch regarding payment. Thanks, The MP3elf team |

Hi Everyone, We are taking "pre-orders" for mp3elf hardware at http://mp3elf.net. Use the "purchase" link on the left side of the page. This information is to allow us to order enough parts. Once we have ordered the parts, we will let you know and put up the real order form with final prices (we expect prices to go down depending on the volume). Thanks, Paul Wilkinso pa...@us... |

elfServer 1.14 released mp3elf 0.6.0 released These two new releases add significant functionality and increased stability: LCD support is now controlled from the elfServer rather than hard-coded into the mp3elf code. Support for idv3 tags has been added to the server. This information can be delivered to the mp3elf LCD. No installation detail is contained in the mp3elf distribution, however installation is straight-forward. Simply copy the mp3.tini file to your TINI and run it. More information is available in the construction guide which is available at http://mp3elf.net Regards, Paul Wilkinson pa...@us... |
