Hi Yann.
Thanks for the suggestions. With the help from you, Chris and Alastair my=
elf works great!
>Be sure that your MP3elf is connected to the same LAN, and

>you can't ping the MP3elf.
I'm very fortunate living here in California, our (100 year old) house ha=
s
a full basement, and several years ago I pulled CAT5 into every room, rew=
iring
all of the telphones and the home LAN via a punch blocks in the basement,=
with wall plates throughout the house. A couple a hubs, a router and a LR=
P
firewall later and the LAN has been in good shape for a while. Networking=
the elf was the easiest part :) Actually, once the elf is cased it'll pro=
bably
get mounted in the kitchen and the jukebox PC will go down in the basemen=
t.
>I've successfully installed it, with problems also
What kind of problems did you have?

Good suggestion - I was lazy and just reflashed *everything* and set the
TINI for DHCP.
>Last thing: when you've installed mp3v1.tini or mp3v2.tini,
>did you install it erasing or not slush?
My setup is using slush. Have you tried without slush? The TINI docs indi=
cated
that running user programs was much faster. If you tired a "slushless" se=
tup,
how well did it work?
>Another last idea: is your supply a 5V or a 9V? Mine was a
>5V, and it wasn't working, 9V is very adapted.
I took the uncased elf down to the nearest RadioShack store and asked abo=
ut
power supplies. RadioShack has a huge selection, and all the power suppli=
es
use modular tips. In the end I played it safe and and got a 7.5V supply.
Thanks again for the suggestions.

For anyone who's interested, here's what I figured out about the power su=
pply:
The spec is listed on the features page, and the discussion list has some=
instructions on how to wire for 5V DC. On my elf the connection pairs for=
R7 and R8 are wired, which means the power supply should be 7 to 12V AC/D=
C
unregulated, center tip positive, and at least 300mA without an LCD. My
elf has a 4x20 LCD, which I guess uses around 100mA (anyone actually know=
?),
so I got a 7.5V 500mA ps and it works fine.
