First off, I'd like to say that this is a great idea,
and I hope it works out well for everyone involved.

When I was browsing through the specs, I noticed that
it uses an Ethernet connection. This is the one thing
that is barring me from starting this project. If
someone wanted to use one of these in a rather large
house, or one with multiple stories, then this isn't
the best solution. While most of us love running cables
through the walls, others may not like it so much. :)

How hard would it be to equip this little guy with a
wireless ethernet connection?

Presumably building your own wireless card would be a little difficult. PCMCIA with proper drivers for a 3rd-party wireless card would be wonderful.

I'm currently researching and planning to build a similar
device to this using a built in (reference) "wireless card". I
would just adapt this project, but I'm looking to make it a little
less expensive, so the architecture used here isn't viable. I'm
leaning towards using the Rabbit 3000 microcontroller, along
with possibly the Agere Systems WL1141 802.11b chipset.
Got any suggestions for me? Let me know at aaronlerch[at]
