I have implemented a recursive solution using -r. I found it necessary because a shell script wrapper gets rather complicated with all the awkward characters that often appear in mp3 filenames. I'd be happy to merge my changes into CVS if someone wants to make me a developer, or to mail them if you'd like to check them over first.
