"--" is detected as the end of options, but it's also
interpreted as a filename:

$ mp3check -eG -- --foo.mp3
--:
can't stat file (dangling symbolic link?)

$ mp3check -eG --foo.mp3
error: unknown option '--foo.mp3'! (try --help)
