John, 1.11.3 has the fix for weird locations when closing the software while minimised. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough from the release post I made

  • John Galt John Galt posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

Is that fix in an updated 1.11.3.0, Thomas? That's the latest ver to download and I had issues with that ver number see my post 2022-4-28.

Hi, Thomas, In my testing tonight, the program only sets the position to -32000,-32000 (in the settings.json file) when the program is closed in the taskbar, and the program is minimized not actually open/visible on the screen. When I close the program from being open on the screen, it correctly writes the position to the settings.json.

  • Thomas Gutzler Thomas Gutzler posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

John, There's no useful information in the log unfortunately :( I don't really know what to do with this. Did you say this only happens when you shut down the PC with MouseController still running? Or are you getting this with manually closing the software as well?

Hi, Thomas, I have no explanation of why, but I'm still having the program set the position to -32000,-32000 in the settings.json. I have attached the log file and the settings file. It has happened 2 times since my last post, but not every time I use it. The other values in the settings file appear to be working fine. Apparently the position was changed between 23 April and 24 April (the last date in the log file.) I wonder if it does this because when I close down my computer, I have the mousecontroller...

Hi, Thomas, Thank you for the updated version. I uninstalled the older version and installed 1.11.3.0 and it appears to be working. I see the log file and on startup the program is loading from the settings file and loading the mcd file quickly. I will continue to test and report results.

  • Thomas Gutzler Thomas Gutzler posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

John, this should fix the window position and generate a log file in the same folder as the executable which may or may not have some useful information to figure out why your load takes so long. It really shouldn't take long. Maybe your virus checker is interfering with the process? Moving the window has no effect on loading settings and mcd files. I saw no issues with remembering the time stretch, both preset and custom. Hope you find the same. Once you have a log file of a session that took a...

Thomas, The startup loading is taking about 8 to 20 seconds with that same mcd file . I have no idea why sometimes it is more than twice as long to load. I am still testing in the positioning and repeat and Custom Time stretch. I specified F8 as the playback key, and that has been correctly saved and loaded each time. I opened and closed the program several times without doing anything else and it changed the position itself down and to the right (+22 higher values in both x and y) each time. The...

  • John Galt John Galt posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

Thomas, The startup loading is taking about 8-9 seconds with that same mcd file . There seems to be little consistency in the positioning and repeat and Custom Time stretch. Sometimes, it appears to save the values to the settings file and then might load the custom Time stretch on re-start, and sometimes it doesn't. So far it has stored the position correctly in the settings file and then never loads in the position correctly on restart. The mcd file was correctly loaded about 7 times and then for...

Hi, Thomas, Thank you for the prompt change. The mcd file that I am loading is 82KB in size. Is that small? I have uninstalled MouseController, downloaded the 1.11.2.0 and installed it to test it. On first run the mcd file loaded instantly. I will test more and report results.

  • Thomas Gutzler Thomas Gutzler posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

John, Thanks for raising those issues. I couldn't reproduce the problem with the weird location but I have changed how the location is stored hoping this would fix your problem. I also added an entry in the settings to remember the time stretch value. Loading settings at start-up shouldn't take any noticeable time. Again, I wasn't able to reproduce this problem. The only thing that can take some time is loading the mcd file, but unless yours is very large, it shouldn't take long. The easiest way...

For some reason, sometimes when the application closes it writes the position in settings.json as follows: "Position":"-32000, -32000" The application is therefor not visible on the screen. • Thomas Gutzler Thomas Gutzler posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

John, try the new version that I just released. To be sure, uninstall the previous version first. If it still happens, open the "settings.json" file in the folder where MouseController.exe is and change the Position to 0,0 "Position":"1284, 809" Or delete the entire file. If you can't find MouseController.exe, open your task manager, go to the Details tab while MouseController is running, right click on MouseController.exe and select "Open File Location". Hope this helps 👍

Version 1.11.1 is now available. It contains a small bugfix - thanks to Rylan for reporting it - to fix remembering of the "Repeat Every" value. I also added a checkbox to the About dialog to disable checking for updates. Both About and Update Available Dialogs pop up in the middle of the screen now. And I think I fixed an issue reported by John Galt where the UI disappeared off-screen after opening.

It's been a while! Version 1.11 is here - we seem to have skipped 1.10, never mind. With 1.11 there no longer is a separate portable version because portable is now the only option. All configuration files are kept in the folder where the .exe is. By default we no longer install to C:\Program Files but instead into the AppData folder of the current user. A major fix in this release is DPI awareness, which means you /should/ be able to use the software if your display resolution is not 100%.

I had the same issue and realised that the scale was at 150% on my screen. My knowledge in programming is limited but I wondered if there is a way to add a new text box in the software under "Repeat, Delay by ...." in which the user could select his/her screen magnification and the code could fetch that value for the recordings / playback (with a question mark next to it to explain what is this setting to new user, and where to search the screen magnification settings)? - Add high DPI awareness

  • Thomas Gutzler Thomas Gutzler posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

When windows detects a high DPI display it changes the scale of the display to avoid things showing up really tiny. In your display settings you have a drop down for scale. Yours is probably set to 300%. This maps the pixels of your screen to the pixels of your desktop. For 300% it means that 3 pixels of screen are 1 pixels on the desktop. Regular DPI screens default to 100%; that's a 1 to 1 mapping. In previous versions of MouseController I used low-level functions to GET the mouse position. This...

One where you do a 1 inch down-right near the bottom left hand corner of your screen and one where you do a 1 inch right-down near the top right hand corner of your screen.

This is the first time I try mouse controller, My resolution is at 4096 x 2160, I did disconnect the other monitor, I did not try a different mouse, if I go all the way into the right corner and record just a slight left and right like 1/2 an inch and replay it it it mouves about 1.5 inches, same thing up and down, once I get 1/3 of the way from the corner it just goes off the screen.

  • Thomas Gutzler Thomas Gutzler posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

Has this worked for you before? Have you tried disconnecting your 2nd monitor? Is one of the monitors a high DPI and the other not? What are the resolutions? Have you tried a different mouse? When you record a very short gesture, such as just moving the mouse horizontally for a few pixels, and look at the recorded file, do the coordinates make sense?

  • Calm Steve Calm Steve posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

I've found a possible solution to this. Open up mouse controller and then in your task bar, shift+right-click on it, then click on move. After that don't move your mouse at all and instead use your arrow keys to try and move it into the frame. For me it was hidden on the top left of my window out of frame and I just had to move it back in.

At this point, the only takeaway would be to import the attached file above and see if there is some error handling you could put into the code to prevent such a file from being created and handle unexpected conditions created by such errors in other products. But that really presumes you don't have more pressing issues to tackle. :) Regardless, my problem is solved. Thanks for making this available and responding to user issues. I do appreciate all your work.
