recently, I couldn't watch my motion streams on VLC anymore. Some
investigation turned out that motions sends a faulty Content-type. It
Content-Type: multipart/x-mixed-replace; boundary=--BoundaryString
The Content-Type field for multipart entities requires one parameter,
"boundary". The boundary delimiter line is then defined as a line
consisting entirely of two hyphen characters ("-", decimal value 45)
followed by the boundary parameter value from the Content-Type header
field, optional linear whitespace, and a terminating CRLF.
So, correct would be
Content-Type: multipart/x-mixed-replace; boundary=BoundaryString
The problem is easily fixed. In webcam.c, line 215, remove the "--" in
front of "BoundaryString".
After this modification, vlc played the streams as usual.
