I have been playing with motion and various webcams on a Seagate
Dockstar running Debian. I had picked up a Microsoft Lifecam HD 6000 and
it works great, however the autofocus kicks in too much and triggers
Motion to grab images when there is no motion. The autofocus could be
triggered by light changes or particulates in the air. It also blurs
everything when there is actual motion as it tries to refocus every so
often (on something that is already in focus).
I could simply de-solder the leads on the lens to disable this, not to
worried about opening it up as I already have removed the IR filter, but
I would rather do it through software if possible.
So my question. Is there a way to disable autofocus, or manually adjust
it through software? It seems this is relatively easy to do on the
Logitech cameras, but I can't find anything for Microsoft. Any nudge in
the right direction would be appreciated.
