[Motion-user] Problem with Webinterface in Motion 3.2.3

Hi @all,

I changed some parameters in my threads in the Webinterface.
I saved the parameters for Cam2,  but all config files were updated (4 =
Cams).
Is this correct?? I thougt it would save the threadfile for the right =
cam.
( http://localhost/2/config/write )

My log says:

It is true that Motion saves ALL the config files.

It not only saves them. It reorganise the file content so that all common 
options are put in motion.conf and only the unique are in the thread config 
files.
This is what I originally wanted and still find is a very strong feature of 
Motion.

You can throw in any option anywhere in a thread file and when you save the 
files - all is cleaned up including adding the help text above the option.

It also means that when you upgrade Motion and a new optionis added - just 
load the old config files - and save them - and the new options are added 
to motion.conf with defaults value. You will love that feature in future.

Old obsolete options are removed.

The error you reported we will need to discuss on IRC first before I dare 
guess the answer.

Can you post your config files please (attach motion.conf and one thread file)?

Your config files are correct , nothing *strange* in .

the errno value that belong to your error message is :

#define EILSEQ          84      /* Illegal byte sequence */

So it means that you used a non-valid string , maybe a UNICODE string
something like : i.ex  bj=C3=B6rn  , where =C3=B6 is not valid character , =
but
could be other thing.

- Are you using a non ext2/ext3 partition to write jpeg/avis or config
files ?

- What was the parameter/values you set from webinterface before save
the config files ?=20
That will help us to reproduce the error , because i've tried to
reproduce that error but i was not able to.

My config´s are on a ext3 and the avis on xfs...

The only thing I did before I save, is to set the values
http://localhost:8080/1/config/set?text_left=Cam+1%5Cn19+C+%2F+4.6m/s
and then
http://localhost:8080/1/config/writeyes


and the error is the same. Don´t know

On Every Cam I store the temperature every half an hour .
If the temperatur is updated, then I write it to the conf.
So if I write thread2 to the conf every conf will be updated by cron
And thats a problem...
Meanwhile I will change the values for testing on another cam, cron update 
all my configs.

I tried again to reproduce your error , setting from a _browser_ and i
did without problems .

Did you have the same problem doing from a browser ?

How did you send the url to motion from your cron ? Maybe the problem is
there.

Okay I restarted motion and tried again,

Accidentally I saw what I think is a typo: "absolute patch" should be
"absolute path", shouldn't it? It might be part of the source, or a
custom text. Since I have no working setup of Motion 3.2.x right now,
can someone else have a look at it, please?
