It not only saves them. It reorganise the file content so that all common options are put in motion.conf and only the unique are in the thread config files. This is what I originally wanted and still find is a very strong feature of Motion. You can throw in any option anywhere in a thread file and when you save the files - all is cleaned up including adding the help text above the option. It also means that when you upgrade Motion and a new optionis added - just load the old config files - and save them - and the new options are added to motion.conf with defaults value. You will love that feature in future. Old obsolete options are removed. The error you reported we will need to discuss on IRC first before I dare guess the answer.
