Thanks for the response. Actually, when I start Motion by hand, everything works fine. No error message, it just is doing as I want: It starts and then runs in daemon mode. But when I reboot the system, the problem stays: Motion starts and then stops. My best guess is that it has to do with something in the init.d-file - or could it be some other reason? Now I'm far away from being an expert and don't really understand what all the different lines there mean. But there is nothing that pops in my eyes...?
