[Motion-user] Problems getting image from the camera

Hello,

I've been trying to set up motion with my webcams, so far without any
success.

I keep getting the messages

[1] You must setup netcam_url
[1] Could not fetch initial image from camera
...
then repeatedly:
[1] Retrying until successful connection with camera
[1] You must setup netcam_url

no matter which of these cameras I try:

Bus 005 Device 005: ID 0458:7004 KYE Systems Corp. (Mouse Systems) VideoCAM Express
(with the gspca driver)
Bus 005 Device 006: ID 046d:08b2 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Pro 4000
(with the pwc driver)

>From these messages it seems to me that motion is trying to obtain
images from a netcam. However, all netcam related options are commented
out in my config file.

I did not set up any thread-specific configs, as I never connected both
cameras at the same time.

The cameras do work, `mplayer -tv device=/dev/video0 tv://' shows the
video just fine.

I'm on Gentoo, `uname -a':
Linux deotron 2.6.25-gentoo-r7 #6 SMP Wed Nov 19 20:56:50 CET 2008 x86_64 Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
Motion is 3.2.10.1

Has anyone seen such problems? Any help would be appreciated.
