Hey everyone! Note: the ftpmirror might be down atm, blame the isp :o) Well, been quite busy on the new release, working out bugs, playing with minimodules and throwing in new goodies. Light, Heavy and KDE are online, couldn't get ut2003(!) working with the Game/nvidia module, hope to upload that one later this week. For those interested, the changelog is shown below, most changes are not that fancy, except maybe xfree4.3! Yes, you now have a transparent, mouseshadowed mousecursor you either will hate or love... What's next? Well, there still are a few (minor) install bugs, but i'm focussing on the translucency lkm (This lets you "write" to a read-only filesystem, for the ones willing to try it out: a minimod is on the mirror, just follow the updated ISO Howto). This lkm should bring more flexibility to the mainmodules (by adding new apps, changing the language, adding specialised drivers, you name it), it's still quite untested but seems to work well enough. New graphics are on their way, started work on a partitioner a la diskdrake, new mainmodules are springing up and more people are checking it out and playing around with it! Enough to keep morphix moving on :o) Cheers, and as always, keep that feedback rollin'! Alex --- 11-03-2003 (version 0.3-3 base, main modules except for game, mini modules) gamemodule not yet uploaded, as nvidia minimodule isn't working yet. hope to upload later this week (when/if it actually works) base: - added new bootoptions screen (+wheelmouse and vga=normal) - changed usb-loading (should be same as knoppix now) main modules: - updated all packages, placed most packages on hold to keep them from breaking after an update. - fixed autofs/automount (just not after an install) - updated to XFree86 4.3.0 - fixed heaps of installer bugs (homedir, PATH, permissions) - added gtkxrandr resolution changer, probably needs more resolutions in XF86Config-4 - translucency! minimodule available! (up for testing) - nvidia added, testing only! (is activated when using vesa, prompts user) - added netcardconfig (/usr/sbin/netcardconfig), no menu item as of now - added man-db, less light, game: - new icewm+theme - added number of mplayercodecs to light and mplayer plugin, gaim game: - added nvidia module to game, still testing (works with translucency) - added ut2003 demo, fixed q3demo - added xfrisk, enigma to game, fullscreen heroes in menu kde: - added mc, gaim, synaptic - added kweather (already in 0.3-2?) - couldn't add KMail/KNode, waiting for them to arrive in sid heavy: - added mc - fixed gdm - added gkrellm, grip, gaim - no mplayercodecs added yet --- /'-'\ ( o o ) ------------oOO0--(_)--0OOo------------ Wouter Alexander de Landgraaf Student AI & CS VU Amsterdam Phone: 06-16844084 GPG: http://am.xs4all.nl/key_alex.asc WWW: http://www.alextreme.org .oooO ( ) Oooo. --------------\ (----( )-------------- \_) ) / (_/ |

Hey all, Seems the archive is doing some weird stuff, just testing if it's solved now... Hey all! Well, Chris beat me to it, but welcome to the morphix mailinglist! Just added a note that this isn't strictly for -user purposes, it could just as well have been -devel, -all or -rubbish. (and yes, this is a new mailinglist...) As for Ipv6: i've included it on the new MorphixRoadMap for the 0.3-3 release. I seemed to underestimate the need for these tools, i let myself get distracted by nice and shiny gui's too often. Could inclusion in an expert-module be an alternative? 0.3-3 you might say? Yups, i've thrown 0.3-2 on the mirror as of now, everything fresh and full of bugs (hope not). Check the changelog included for changes (d'oh). Just hope that this mailinglist will be succesful and speed up the communication ammong the people interested in it. If you want to contact me personally, don't hesitate to mail or drop on in #knoppix on freenode.net. Cheers, Alex Changelog for 0.3-2: base: - added swap, - fstab generating, - some cleanups. tried autofs, but couldn't get it to work, together with ipv6 todo in 0.3-3 main modules: - heaps of gtkinstall+postinstall bugs fixed, you can now actually make a new user ;) - added a few extra options (lilo-choices) - Organised the install so you boot with kdm/gdm after a heavy/kde install light - not much new stuff here, just 0.3-1 with the new installer heavy - +gdm, +vlc kde - +kdm, +quanta, +gaim, +gimp game - +q3demo, -q2-files bare - +pump, +installer, +lilo, - more of a bare module with all deb's installed for hdinstall (hopefully) /'-'\ ( o o ) ------------oOO0--(_)--0OOo------------ Wouter Alexander de Landgraaf Student AI & CS VU Amsterdam Phone: 06-16844084 GPG: http://am.xs4all.nl/key_alex.asc WWW: http://www.alextreme.org .oooO ( ) Oooo. --------------\ (----( )-------------- \_) ) / (_/ |

The archive for this list is not operational, is it brand new perhaps? Well, I don't know if there's going to be a Morphix-developer, but I'd really, really love to see Morphix going IPv6, and alextreme somewhere mentioned this as if it was a day's work? Well, I'm willing to help - and steal the fame if possible, what is the current status on this? Thanks, Chris --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
