-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, Today I've replaced the website with a "Morphix is currently in a coma" webpage. I know we've known this was the case for some time, but I decided we also have to inform random people stumbling upon morphix.org. Take a look, let me know if anything is missing. cheers, Alex PS. I think I'd have steered users towards Knoppix rather than Ubuntu. The former being the original inspiration for Debian based Live CDs. The latter often includes unstable (read buggy) packages which is to be expected when using snapshots of Debian's testing branch. In th meantime, I'll leave Zathras running the nightly autobuilds until I get a hardware failure or receive instruction to shut him down. Regards, Paul. P.S. The Morphix utilities are still useful for building quick'n'dirty LiveCDs - Everything else I've tried is somewhat tedious and convoluted in comparision. |

I've updated the site to point to Knoppix, it's the least we can do. We'll leave the Ubuntu-flaming for #morphix :) > In th meantime, I'll leave Zathras running the nightly autobuilds until > I get a hardware failure or receive instruction to shut him down. Great, as long as there is interest (and you don't mind) Zathras can continue to provide builds. > P.S. Agreed, and I don't mind fixing the occasional bug in the morphix tools as I still do a build every now and then myself. Nothing has changed in that regard compared to the previous years. It's just that I don't have the time (and haven't for a while) to provide a regular polished distro for end-users and the old website wasn't clear on that (besides the iso's from '06/'07). How about:- $ apt-get install live-helper $ lh_config && lh_build See:- http://live.debian.net/manual/html/ Not quite as easy as xml file of Morphix, but live-magic looks quite good. Not quite as good as Morphing-Morphix, but not bad. http://packages.debian.org/sid/live-magic They Debian-live images boot well:- http://autotesting.livecd.org/autotesting/debian-live/60alpha1/amd64/iso-hybrid/boot-as-usb/standard/2010-03-24/ Regards, Brendan |

After a brownout over the weekend, Zathras has suffered a primary hard disk failure - It may be sometime before a replacement can be sourced. Regards, Paul. |

Really true. Many used morphix for building special purpose liveCDs and still using. We used it to create EduMorphix which was the first distribution used by IT@School project in Kerala, India (a project to implement IT Education in schools) Now they use a debian based distribution, but that time, Morphix project helped us create a distribution with all the necessary educational packages in a short time and it was one of the key achievements that accelerated the migration of Kerala schools to Free Software. thanks for all those who are behind the Morphix project. regards, ~vimal -- Libarate your documents, Celebrate document freedom day 2010 Use OpenOffice : http://openoffice.org http://documentfreedom.org |

It does not mention what went well. And quite a lot went well, imho. We were one of the first with a decent livecd, let alone a nice toolkit to easily build one yourself. > Highlights:- > * Morphix encouraged users to re-brand a livecd for single purpose > use. Somewhere :) Cheers and thanks for all the fish!
