[Morphix-devel] MorphingMorphix - Future Plans.

Hi All,

I am starting to update MorphingMorphix[1]. "The purpose of
Morphing-Morphix is to provide a quick way to start Morphing and to
showcase all the Morphix tools - a LiveCD construction kit. ... All
that is required is some space on a connected hard drive."

The plan is to still base it around the manual examples[2], especially
building MorphixLiveKiosk[3]. At the same time I will update and
release MorphixLiveKiosk[4].

Enhancements planned / To Do list:-
 * Build MorphixLiveKiosk using etch. When building MorphixLiveKiosk
using MorphingMorphix it will Improve the chances of the build being
successful.
 * Be able to download MorphixLiveKiosk (0.04) and update the following:-
   * If the locked-down browser has/has not got a navigation bar.
   * Starting URL
   * Branding
   * Add to the mainmodule contains non-free - flash from
debian-contrib repository.
   * Maybe installed to Hard Drive.(Might wait until version 0.05)
 * ?

If anyone can think of further enhancements/improvement, I would
welcome suggestions.

Hrrmmm... Really need to remove finger from somewhere and work on those=20
templates.

One starting point would be the morphix-livekiosk template - Perhaps we sho=
uld=20
pull it apart and include the bare essentials.

Its quite bare now. See:-

Quite a few of the x* package are depends of xorg. Also console-data
depends console-tools. pump is in base module. Removed bzip2 and
unzip. less is well less. For etch it is ok to have xorg force the
installation of xserver-xorg.

Can spot anything else to reduce this template (or any of the others) ?

Pretty drastic ;)
 Will see the results on Wednesday and perhaps pick up on a few missing uti=
ls=20
during testing.
May find some of the multimedia plugins are required by *some* users (pdf=20
viewer springs to mind) along with printer support - We can worry about tha=
t=20
at a later stage..

I would suggest dealing with one template at a time - Reduces the chances o=
f=20
confusion (did package X get removed from...).

I have built and test a MainModule based on the new template. It works
and I can not find anything missing, but more eyes would be good.

There is a problem with matchbox, mozplugger and any pdf-applciation.
[I have tried many]. I may end up switching WM.
