Odd. As a last resort you might want to remove the ~/.firefox and
~/.mozilla directories in your user's homedirectory, it has helped in
the past. strace works well for debugging btw.

If you're using Ubuntu as the build-system, then this should just be a
matter of replacing the repository- and suite-entries for the Ubuntu
variants. I personally don't build using Ubuntu (and neither do the
autobuilds), but there were a few others using mmaker for their Ubuntu
livecds.
