Only thing is that Knoppix and Morphix are both non-commercial, both are just the pet-projects of two developers who couldn't care less if they would make a buck of their work (I did get a babytux-tshirt a few months ago, still need to set up one of those cafepress stores). You can't even officially buy Morphix yet, although I know of companies having flavours pre-installed. Having said that, Klaus isn't doing too bad :) On the other hand, Morphix and UserLinux have completely seperate goals. I'd rather focus on a few different flavours and not make fixed choices for users (let them choose, hence the morphability/modularity). UserLinux would focus more on having one strong brand as an alternative to commercial distributions, thus you would need to make hard choices. I'd make for the bombshelter first. Even so, having an umbrella-organization for non-commercial distributions would be interesting and give prospective users a uniform view instead of the collection of independant distro's now. Might be wishful thinking as herding distro's would be much like herding (very stubborn) cats, but as long as we don't have to agree with everything being done they have my support. Well, as long as they don't become dominated by commercial entities. The name seems to be in doubt, how about UserFriendlyLinux? Would love rallying behind the Dust Puppy :P Cheers, Alex de Landgraaf rambling on like usual, and CC'ing to userlinux's list /'-'\ ( o o ) ------------oOO0--(_)--0OOo------------ Wouter Alexander de Landgraaf Student AI & CS VU Amsterdam Phone: 06-16844084 GPG: http://am.xs4all.nl/key_alex.asc WWW: www.alextreme.org & www.morphix.org .oooO ( ) Oooo. --------------\ (----( )-------------- \_) ) / (_/ |
