Nice to hear that you are using MooseFS.
First of all we advice you to update MooseFS to 2.0.50 version.
A lot of improvements have been made till 1.6.x version.

Please check your path after -S parameter.
If I have understood, you have made entry in export for /mfs/test folder
and you have (mfs_root)/mfs/test folder available on MooseFS and sent
HUP signal.
So if you mounts moosefs without -S parameter (mfsmount -H mfsmaster
/media/test/)  you can "cd" to /media/test/mfs/test folder, yes?
