MooseFS CE is fully open sourced. The only change is license type (we changed it mainly because of Lizards). We just don’t want to see more forks. Thats it. I spent almost ten years on programming MooseFS and don’t want to see my code destroyed in such way. > > While MooseFS 2.0 might be more capable than LizardFS at the moment, I > seriously doubt you will be able to maintain that position with your > current business model. Will see. But be aware, that this is file system, not some stupid game. Product needs to be sturdy and well tested. Safety of your data is very important for us. Do you really think that bunch of guys without experience can manage to create good product? Our product is first installed in our own environment (about 2PiB), and then released, so is very well tested. > > Your group did a very fine job on MooseFS, but I feel I have to move on > while migration is easy - this means upgrading to MooseFS 2.x is > something I would avoid under most circumstances. I still don’t know why, but it’s your choice. At least you should test Lizard and Moose 2.0 by yourself and then make your decision. > > Best regards and thanks for all your work!
