That is useful to know, especially with regard to glusterfs. I have also 
made the same two changes, along with using all high-end-ish hardware and 
a dedicated chunkserver network with dual bonded links. I realize that 
several people have this working OK, but I have no idea why it doesn't 
work for me :-(
