Hi The new metadata format is something like an "extension" to the 1.6 branch metadata. Upgrading to 1.7 would be easy - you won't have to think about these issues. Kind regards Michał Borychowski MooseFS Support Manager From: Scott Duckworth [mailto:sd...@cl...] Sent: Monday, April 16, 2012 7:44 PM To: moo...@li... Subject: [Moosefs-users] upcoming quotas and metadata format change We have multiple research groups that might be able to make use of MooseFS, and I'm trying to avoid having multiple installations of it. Per-directory quotas would make this easier to reliably implement. I note that in the MooseFS roadmap, http://www.moosefs.org/roadmap.html, that per-directory quota support is planned to be added in version 1.7, and that a new metadata file format will be introduced. Will version 1.7 be compatible with files written under version 1.6, and if so will they be compatible with the quota implementation? If there is some sort of metadata conversion that will be necessary, what will this process entail?
