Yes, I have already looked at the link you've mentioned. I actually want to
know the replication algorithm that moosefs uses. Such as is it based on
locality of the chunk servers and the client?

e.g. if there are 3 chunk servers and 1 client. if two of the chunkservers
and the client are in US and one chunk server is in Japan. With mfsgoal set
to 2, will the chunk be stored on a chunkserver in Japan?

Does moosefs handle this so that the chunks are not stored faraway so as to
avoid network delays?

Did you have a look at http://www.moosefs.org/? The process is described
there with two diagrams. If this is not enough for you please ask more
