moodss 21.5 (stable) released

Moodss is a modular GUI application that can monitor systems, networks, and databases. It displays data in graphical viewers, sends emails and execute scripts on thresholds, archive data in a SQL database, and includes a daemon for background monitoring. Around 100 modules (counting Nagios plugins) are available.

In this release, the ability to edit thresholds per page was added in order to easily manage large quantities of thresholds, the email library was patched to ensure that messages data sections are properly terminated. The usual minor improvements and bug fixes were also made.

In this release, an important bug in the File/Modules/Manage/Loaded dialog box was fixed (PLEASE UPGRADE from moodss 21.3), the thresholds dialog box opening and closing times were significantly improved and usual minor improvements were also included.

In this release, performance on big dashboards with many thresholds was significantly improved and the snmptrap module was made compatible with the Tnm SNMP library version 3, also successfully tested on OS X. The usual minor improvements and bug fixes were also made.

In this release, made sure that, when the moodss or moomps applications exit, the modules perform their termination procedure. The apache modules load properly again. Many improvements and bug fixes related to 64 bit platform support were made.

In this release, in the predictor tool, allowed finding the main period of the analyzed data using a Fast Fourier Transform. A new myshow module was added for monitoring either the status or the system variables of a MySQL database server. The usual minor improvements and bug fixes were also made.

By finding the best of powerful statistical models, using sophisticated methods such as ARIMA and artificial neural networks, moodss can now predict the future behavior of data cells, from their history recorded in a SQL database. The new predictor tool, obviously ideal for capacity planning, will also allow, in upcoming releases, a system administrator to receive emails such as "on server foo.bar.com, the disk sdb is likely to become full in 3 weeks".

Around 100 modules (counting Nagios plugins) are available.

For this new release, in the GUI, stacked graph viewers now update properly when resized and when new cells are added, the display is no longer mangled. In the free text viewer, it is now possible to change the font size and the background color. Support for the SQL Server database was added. Other minor improvements and bug fixes are also included.

In the moodss GUI, in real time mode, graph and statistics viewers now internally keep data cells history so they are not lost during viewers mutations and creations. The database range dialog box now includes a calendar widget. Fonts handling and preferences were improved, especially on Windows, where they follow the control panel settings. Other minor improvements and bug fixes are also included.

In the moodss GUI, a View/Objects menu was added in order to find and bring to front a module table or viewer, useful in complicated dashboards. In the standalone binary, the moomps daemon is now also included. A few minor improvements and bug fixes are also included in this release.

The daemon code was optimized in order to take less memory space. The default directory for the daemon dashboards was changed to /srv in compliance with the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard. A few minor improvements and bug fixes are also included in this release.

In this version, an annoying bug that prevented database browsing was fixed. The title areas of displayed data tables now change color to reflect the states of the corresponding modules. A standard deviation column was added to the statistics table.... read more

This new version features a new nagios module, which can use any Nagios compatible plugin, with automatic creation of preset thresholds. The ability to set minimum values in graph and bar charts was added, as well as the ability to change the background color and display a grid. The cpustats, memstats, mounts and ps related modules were made compatible with FreeBSD. The usual minor improvements and bug fixes were also made.
