Ok, Dan just suggested STATS on IRC, there is lots of scope to report the state of the module subsystem and the state of the IRC, its all there, it just needs a system to report it. > > > > I think a server administrator should be added and they can do server > > specific stuff, then secure IRCop some more so they cant do certain > > things to the ircd. > > Agreed. > > > > Also maybe a user mode +h (blah looks very helpful) or something. > > What does it do though ? > > Chris |

Well, if the sync bug is actually a bug, and not just an effect of the change in symbol size affecting the bugs (which in itself is a bug in the make system). A fix for this would be to make the modules all rebuild every time, thats fairly easy to do ? > > Chris > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: Etnus, makers of TotalView, The best > thread debugger on the planet. Hello All MonkeyIRCD 1.0.5 is about ready for deployment to irc.monkeyircd.org for the final stage of its testing (I hope!). Can anyone think of any more bugs that need addressing before the final release ? Chris |

Well so far, ive got=20 channel mode +c (No Colors sent to channel)=20 channel mode +S (Color Stripping) channel mode +O (IRC Operators only can join channel) I think a server administrator should be added and they can do server = specific stuff, then secure IRCop some more so they cant do certain = things to the ircd. Also maybe a user mode +h (blah looks very helpful) or something. Regards Daniel Moss Da...@Mo... |

Hello Folks, This list has been in a coma for a while now, so I've decided its about time I revived it. So here goes.... I'm currently working on 1.0.5, feature-wise, it is as complete as I want it to be. New features are: + Autoconnects + Host "hashing" with crc32 and mode +v + Improved server authentication and host matching (Finally removes need for IP and servername entries in accept {} ) + 005 numeric + Various bugfixes Anyway, thats all I can recall at this instant. If anyone has any ideas about new features, or any bugs they've noticed, report them! Chris |

Hey People! Here is my proposed list of fixes between the current CVS version of 1.0.3, and the final version. + Netsplit not showing correct link break (always shows local server) + Changing auth code to use IP's only, instead of the reverse + Check the new ping code with MIRC, and make changes as required. + Add auto-reconnects (This is a bit iffy, depends on the amount of work) + Md5 all passwords in server->server comms Chris |

Hi Peeps! I've just uploaded the CVS version of the IRCD onto all of the irc.monkeyircd.org nodes. Already I've fixed a pile of bugs in the PING/PONG handling, the message receipt system and in the outgoing networking code. Any further testing would be greatly appreciated. Chris |

Well, it looked like nobody was going to post to this, so I decided to do a status report, so it at least looks like people are interested. CVS Status ========== + Encryption in and apparently correct, but as yet unproven. + Compression partially in + Most formatting bugs due to change to vsnprintf fixed. + Two infinite loop bugs fixed. + Most commands working. I've been working some more on it, it can now: + Install, and won't install if its already installed + Remove, with reliable removal of directories if you specific a directory in FILELIST + List, as before + Query, as before With regards to gentoo linux, it doesn't look much fun, because a) its patched to stupidity b) the packages appear to have a core mirror (you need to set GENTOO_MIRRORS) My maths exam went fine, but I found it ok, and everyone else thought it was very hard, so something is probably wrong. Hello People Long time no post. Here's a report on the modules bug I just repaired, and the general status of the project. a) I've stopped the caching of symbols returned by dlsym(), it seems to have fixed the problems with backtrace-less segfaults b) Now the module system is more advanced, I've started to create a docbook book describing the interface, routines and compiling of modules for the IRCD. c) We're closing in on a 1.0 release, we're very stable in single server, and with the help of the cmtest.pl script, we're finding more and more problems we were just too lazy to find. Hello Peoples I've removed the limit on the number of bans assigned to a channel, although I've not tested it thoroughly, it seems to be working ok. Also, I've tried to tidy up the connect sequence, so that we use special data areas in struct tempinfo, rather than messing around storing the hostname and IP in the host field. Hopefully we'll have a far cleaner implementation than we have now, and I'll be able to track bugs better. Chris |

Hi all I've changed the logging around, so instead of having LOG_INFO and suchlike, we now have three loglevels, LOG_BASIC, for everything that affects the running of the IRCD, from server link drops to module symbol failures, and then two debugging levels, called DEBUG1 and DEBUG2, these are for debugging, DEBUG1 should output more detail and DEBUG2 should be even more ott. I've just took a snapshot of the CVS, cleaned it up, and removed some debug stuff. I'd appreciate it, if everyone that uses CMIRC could upgrade, to aid debugging. Chris |

This seems to be isolated to ts86's machine, it doesn't crash on mine, I'll get in contact with the adns people. Chris |

I'm running it with services connected here, and it seems to work fine, but on another machine, adns causes a segfault when the services connect, or they disconnect after a while, anyone else got problems like that ? Chris |

I've made a mess of the logging code, I need to sort it out before I can fix the problems with services breaking links. Also, ADNS has segfaulted twice for no apparent reason, which needs to be reported if it happens on you. Chris |

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed it, but it seems the services keep getting disconnected by the ircd, and because of the bugs in the logging code, it ain't reporting it correctly. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. Chris |

Hello People I'm going to work on the logging, you need to tell me what you want adding. I was thinking about improving the logging for OPER'ed commands, and also improving the logging of connections. Any more ideas ? Chris |

Hey new people :) We need to start using the list a little more, so I can get into bugs and stuff more quickly, any bug reports or proposed improvements are welcome. Thanks Chris |
