Your piece of software has saved me so many hours of
configuration work, thank you for that. One feature
that I am really missing however is the ability to
assign services to either hostgroups or even all hosts
(*). It would be great to see this in one of the next
releases.
Thank you very much in advance,

In nagios 2.x they have created service groups. This sounds
like what is wanted. It would be nice to see assigning
services to service groups similar to how hosts are assigned
to host groups.
Currently you can only assign services to service groups by
modifying the service group directly.

Sorry if I did not express my wish clear enough:
Guess you have a hostgroup "servers" and you would like to
check a certain performance counter on each server.
Currently this is only possible by assigning the service to
each machine. If assigning the service to the hostgroup, the
performance counter would be checked automatically on any
host that you add to the hostgroup without any further
configuration. I cannot see how servicegroups could help me
here.

Hello,
I have successfully installed and configured Monarch. It's
doing a great job except one thing!
If a service is defined for a hostgroup, it creates multiple
entries of this service for each member of the group.
Although it probably makes no difference to Nagios, it does
to me: I would prefer to be able to read and edit
services.cfg file manually. This way changes can be loaded
back to Monarch and exported as cleaned-up config files again.
It'd be great if you could implement the concept of
hostgroups on the level of database, so that each service
could be associated not only with a hostname but also with a
hsot group.
Thanks,
-Khanan

Good ideas all! Some of these have been addressed
indirectly in Monarch 1.0. I'll leave this open for
further considerations.
