Update: MOFO Linux 8 is released.

It seemed for a while that smartphones and easy to install Shadowsocks or VPN applications would make systems like MOFO Linux obsolete. No, the truth is that it continues to be difficult to obtain, install, and use good tools for circumventing censorship. More than a few governments are choking access to the global internet and intruding on the privacy of computer users.

This problem is NOT being suitably dealt with by the top makers of smart phones or PC operating systems. It is something you cannot do simply by downloading Ubuntu and putting on a few VPN apps. There is bloat which reduces performance and there are applications which share user data for marketing purposes.

MOFO Linux 8 will, as usual, come with multiple tools for circumventing censorship, including recent attacks on https and encrypted DNS. MOFO Linux 8 will also go through the stripping out / debloating process so that the system stays lean, quiet, and does not give up your data to the big marketing portals.

    Cheers,
    MOFO Linux

The i3 window manager is quite different from MATE, Cinnamon, and XFCE desktop environments. You have MATE applications; window behavior is 100% i3. Most of the time, you will start applications with a direct hot key combination or "Super" + "r" combination to bring up the menu (Rofi).

The MOFO Linux keybindings are shown in the local readme html files bookmarked in Vivaldi. There is a set of buttons on the intro page which lead to pages about the bindings for i3, Neovim, Tmux, and Bash aliases. Similar references are posted on https://mofolinux.com

For i3, the most crucial one is the change to Mod4, the "Super" key. Main keybinds are in those readme pages; more obscure ones can be gotten (or you can change them) in the actual config file located at ~/.config/i3/config.

    Hope this helps,
    MOFO Linux
