I downloaded and compiled the Modules-3.0.7-rko version, and after a few
days of testing, found 2 problems with it. The reason that I wanted this
version was because it got back to the old 2.0 style, in the way it
displayed currently loaded modulefiles(using module list), and also avail
modulefiles.
Problem 1
---------
With your version, module switch no longer seems to be working. If I load
one modulefile, then switch to a different version of that tool, using
module switch, Modulefiles 'thinks' that it switched versions, and module
list shows the appropriate version, yet the environment variables for the
new version are not set. Is anyone using this successfully?
Problem 2
---------
I don't remember how loaded modulefiles were displayed using module list,
using v2.0, but I noticed something strange with this version. If I load
a project modulefile, for instance, and I do a module list, I see all of
the modulefiles loaded by that project modulefile, as well as the project
modulefile(That's what I expect). Each modulefile is associated with a
number(ie. 1, 2, 3, 4, etc...). If you follow the numbers, it seems that
there is no rhyme or reason to the way that the modulefiles are listed,
and it will look like the project modulefile is buried in the middle of
all of the loaded modulefiles. It took a minute to figure out, but I
noticed that the numbers increment across the screen, from left to right,
while the order of the modulefiles listed, is set in columns from top to
bottom, moving from left to right.
So, in my case, my project modulefile foo/1.1 loaded 10 tools, and it
looked like this:
1) tool1/ 2) tool4/ 3) tool7/ 4) tool10/
5) tool2/ 6) tool5/ 7) tool8/ 8) foo/1.1
9) tool3/ 10) tool6/ 11) tool9/
Notice that foo/1.1 in numbered as the 8'th modulefile loaded, in the
middle. Well, if you notice the tool names, they increment from top to
bottom, then move to the next column(tool1/, tool2/, tool3/, etc...).
I haven't seen any problems with this, other than the obvious cosmetic
one. I am curious to see if anyone else has come across this.
Thanks,
