performance

Hi,

I've been using Modules for years and just decided to
see if anyone had done any work on it. So I discovered
the work at sourceforge and have built 3.1.6 (on Solaris
2.7). Unfortunately, even with maximum optimization and
static linking, it takes several seconds for an xterm to come
up, about twice as long as the old version.
Any comments?
