I would be *very* interested in having modules built by automake because I
am working to make an RPM for modules.  Since the current build process
does not support $DESTDIR kinds of installs, there is much wailing and
gnashing of teeth on my part while trying to build the RPM on a machine
where modules are already installed.  As result, the %install section in
the specfile is horrible, horrible, horrible...
