In that case it should have an exit code of 0 (success) or 1 (not found) which can be used in shell scripts. However, if it's invoked through a modulefile, then it should return 0 or 1 for Tcl parsing. An intriguing idea. It may require a fair amount of coding though. > What about imposing "smarter" ordering on the output of "module avail" so > that 1.10 comes after 1.9 instead of between 1.1 and 1.2? > > H > modules has always used simple ``directory'' ordering, and to institute something like this could require some significant changes. Anyways, your suggestions seem like definite improvements and I've added your suggestions to the TODO file ... however, that doesn't guarantee that they will happen immediately though. However, if someone gets ambitious and sends in a code patch, that definitely helps things along. R.K. PS > I've also noticed recently that this email list has been getting a fair amount of spam. Whenever such comes in I forward it to spamcop.net, which then analyzes the email and will send email to the various network/email providers to alert them to possible email relays or spammer activity. I just want to recommend spamcop.net anyone tired of spam. +------------------+---------------------+ | R.K.Owen,PhD | rk...@ow... | | KooZ Software | Environment Modules | | NERSC/LBNL | rk...@ne... | +------------------+---------------------+ |
